The article I chose is called 10 myths about the Common Cold and Flu. This article busts the 10 most common myths about the common cold. It talks about how the flu vaccine lasts all year and that their is no nead to hold off on vaccine so that it lasts through the winter, it will. Doctors are already reciving their shipments of the vaccine. It also puts the myth that you can catch a cold from a flu shot to rest (the flu shot cotains parts of the flu virus but is not actualy a complete virus). It also proved that our beloved chiken noodle soup actualy does help us get rid of our colds faster. Other subjects of speculation were if plane rides increase the chances of a cold, if stress increased your chances and if being outside in wet cloths increased your chances of catching a cold.
Myth list
1. If you get the flu vaccine too early in the year, your protection will wear off before flu season ends. FALSE
2. You can catch the flu from a flu shot. FALSE
3.Stress increasses your chances of a cold. UNDETERMINED
4. Wet cloths outside increasses your chances of a cold. FALSE
5. Flying on an airplane increasses your chances of a cold. FACT
6. Echinacea or zinc can help prevent or shorten the length of a cold. FALSE
7. Putting on extra clothing or covering yourself in blankets can help you "sweat out" a cold. FALSE
8. Feed a cold, starve a fever." Or "Starve a cold, feed a fever." FALSE
9. Chicken soup and hot liquids will help you feel better. FACT
10. There is no way to reduce the duration of a cold or the flu. FALSE

I enjoyed this article because I have heard most of these myths before. It was also nice to learn that all of those years of eating chiken noodle soup when I was sick were not without reason or benifit. I was surprized to learn that being outside in wet cloths did not put you at a higher risk for a cold. It is actualy the staying inside more to avoid the cold that tends to make people sick. I allways figured being stressed out helped you in catching a cold because if you are really stressed it beats down your immuse system that keeps you from getting the cold in the first place.
